Renowned photographer Lauren Greenfield has won acclaim and awards for her studies of youth culture. In Girl Culture, she combines a photojournalist's sense of story with fine-art composition and color to create an astonishing and intelligent exploration of American girls...Her color photographs provide a window into the secret worlds of girls' social lives and private rituals, the dressing room and locker room, as well as the iconic subcultures of the popular clique: cheerleaders, showgirls, debutantes, actresses and models.
The exhibit will run for 8 weeks at The Gallery at Trinity Commons, will be open six days a week, and will include an opening night reception on March 2nd, 2007. The JLC, YWCA Greater Cleveland and Trinity Cathedral will offer weekly scheduled educational programs around the exhibit. Additional educational programming will be facilitated by the YWCA Greater Cleveland and offered to school and out-of-school groups on Wednesdays and Fridays. Materials will be provided to teachers to facilitate discussions and activities after their exhibit visit.
In addition, a series of open-to-the-public lectures will address various issues around messages in the media, beauty as power, bullying, peer pressure, acceptance, health/ fitness, self-esteem and body image. Docents will be present during gallery hours to assist visitors while viewing the exhibit. A reflection room will be open during gallery hours where participants will be welcome to share their thoughts and decompress upon completion of the exhibit walk through. This exhibit is recommended for ages 12 and up.

The Gallery at Trinity Commons is located at Trinity Cathedral, 2230 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44115. Lighted parking adjacent to the building is available off Prospect.
