FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Rebecca Wilson 330-524-2067; rswilson@raex.com MUSIC & PERFORMING ARTS AT TRINITY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MOVES ONCLEVELAND--FEBRUARY 18, 2004 — Music & Performing Arts at Trinity Cathedral announced today that its executive director, Mike Telin, will leave his post in September to pursue other, warmer opportunities. Telin, who has led M&PA for thirteen years, will divide his time between Cleveland and Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he will work with the Tango Via Foundation. "My time at M&PA has been one of the greatest experiences of my professional life," said Telin, under whose leadership the organization has launched innovative art programs with teenage parents, downtown residents, and youth at risk for HIV/AIDS. "I am proud of the work we've accomplished and grateful that I have had the opportunity to work with such dedicated staff, volunteers, and audiences. Leaving is bittersweet, but the chance to work internationally is irresistible." Telin has been a world traveler since childhood, but his interest in Argentina developed during the recent International Opera Project, a collaboration among M&PA, the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and the Instituto Superior del Arte of the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires. The project, which recently played to sold-out houses on two nights at Trinity Cathedral, was produced by Telin and funded by the Ohio Arts Council. "M&PA's vision since its founding 25 years ago has been to reach out to the community using art. Mike has given life and energy to that vision, and we will always be grateful for his dedication and creativity," said Wiley Cornell, president of the M&PA Board of Trustees. "We're grateful, too, that we have time to make a smooth transition to new administrative leadership in the fall, and that M&PA's founder Daniel Hathaway will continue to provide the artistic leadership that has guided us since the beginning." M&PA is supported and housed by Trinity Cathedral, the Episcopal Church in downtown Cleveland at E. 22nd and Euclid. "Trinity Cathedral has a long history of presenting art and music that is rooted in our common beliefs and diverse experiences," said The Very Rev. Tracey Lind, Dean of Trinity Cathedral. "Mike has made so much possible at Trinity, and we are grateful to him for helping to realize the Cathedral's commitment to the community. We will miss his leadership, but wish him the best in his new adventures and trust that he will remain involved in the life of Trinity." Music & Performing Arts at Trinity Cathedral is an independent organization that seeks to enrich the life of the cathedral's community and neighborhood through music and performing arts.
